Jose Mourinho faces several challenges if he aims to have his Real Madrid squad performing optimally as they approach the 2026-27 season. Key among these challenges will be facilitating effective collaboration between Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, ensuring ample creativity from the midfield, and tightening the defense to minimize chances granted to opponents.
Additionally, injuries and fitness issues will be a major concern for Mourinho. Last season, Real Madrid experienced an astonishing 52 injuries among first-team players, which significantly contributed to their inability to secure major trophies over the past two years.
In response to this issue, Real Madrid is taking steps to address their injury woes. The club is already implementing some changes. According to Diario AS, one such action involves hiring a new doctor, Dr. Alexandre Creuze, who previously served as the head medical officer for AS Monaco.
Creuze will oversee the medical care of the first team, working alongside Dr. Niko Mihic, who remains the club’s chief medical expert. The two share a strong professional rapport and are founding members of an elite international organization of specialists in sports medicine.
Throughout his career in France, Creuze has built an impressive resume, starting at the Girondins de Bordeaux academy and moving to Monaco in 2018, where he earned recognition as a leading doctor in both French and European football.
Joining Real Madrid represents a significant challenge for him, but at just 45 years old, he brings a wealth of energy and experience. The hope is that his arrival will help reduce the injury troubles that have afflicted the club in recent years.
