Alejandro Garnacho misses…

Alejandro Garnacho has not linked up with Chelsea’s pre-season group as the club actively seeks to sell the winger.

Chelsea began pre-season training on Thursday for first-team players not at the World Cup, but Garnacho was absent from the sessions at Cobham.

The 21-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain after an underwhelming campaign following his £40m move from Manchester United on a seven-year deal.

Chelsea value Garnacho at around £43m (50m euros) and will only consider permanent transfers, despite reported loan interest from Roma.

Clubs from the Premier League, across Europe and in Saudi Arabia are also understood to be interested, with talks progressing with several parties. Manchester United are due 10% of any sale.

Garnacho scored one Premier League goal in 24 appearances—10 of them as a substitute—struggling for regular starts under Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior.

Any departure would be part of a broader summer reshaping of Chelsea’s squad under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea have already signed full-back Marco Palestra from Atalanta for £47m and winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting for £40m.

They have also made two major sales: Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £52m and Tyrique George to Everton for a fee that could rise to £24m.

The Blues are targeting a centre-back, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix among the options, while Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria is in talks over a move.

Further exits are expected, with Trevoh Chalobah’s camp exploring switches to Inter Milan and Como.

Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season and will head on a pre-season tour of Australia and Asia in the next two weeks.
