Rodri to Miss Brief Period…

Manchester City midfielder Rodri will be out of action for a “short rehabilitation period” after undergoing back surgery.

New manager Enzo Maresca announced on Friday that Rodri is scheduled for surgery on Monday, emphasizing that he “needs a holiday to rest and recover before rejoining the team.”

Currently, there is no specific timeline for his return.

City is set to compete against Arsenal in the Community Shield on August 16, followed by their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on August 23.

The club stated that Rodri had been experiencing discomfort for some time, which led to the decision to proceed with the surgery.

With a year remaining on his contract, Rodri has been widely rumored to be attracting interest from Real Madrid after playing a pivotal role in Spain’s recent World Cup victory, where he was named player of the tournament.

Rodri’s previous two seasons have been marred by injuries, including a lengthy absence during City’s 2024-25 campaign due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
