AS Monaco is reportedly set to terminate Paul Pogba‘s contract after just over a year with the club, as reported by Nice Matin.
Pogba joined Monaco on a two-year contract in June 2025, looking to leave behind a challenging period and revive his career at an elite level.
However, injuries have hampered his ability to contribute, leading Monaco to decide to let him go.
Several weeks ago, club management informed the 33-year-old of their intention to terminate his contract, allowing him to seek other options.
Negotiations will take place regarding a financial settlement, ensuring that Pogba receives the remainder of his salary due before his contract ends next summer.
Pogba aimed to prove his competitiveness after his doping suspension was reduced on appeal in 2025, and his move to Monaco represented a fresh start.
Unfortunately, he has struggled with injuries, making only six appearances for Monaco last season.
He played just 45 minutes in pre-season, participating in the second half of Monaco’s 5-2 win over Saint-Priest on July 18.
A right knee issue then sidelined him for the following four friendly matches, and he returned to full team training just last Friday. However, that return was short-lived.
During a small-sided training session on Tuesday, Pogba sustained yet another injury, this time to his left thigh.
He is set to undergo an MRI scan to assess the severity of this latest setback, which aligns with Monaco’s prior decision.
Pogba has been made available to clubs in Major League Soccer.
Throughout his career, both personally and professionally, Pogba has faced considerable challenges since his initial time at Juventus.
Once one of football’s most prominent figures, Pogba now must contemplate whether another comeback is feasible.
