Jacob Ondrejka has officially joined FC Groningen on loan from Parma. The former Antwerp midfielder aims to integrate into the squad ahead of their second Eredivisie match this Sunday against newly promoted ADO Den Haag. Ondrejka has previous experience in Belgium with Antwerp.
The 23-year-old began his professional career in Sweden with Landskrona BoIS before moving to Elfsborg in 2020, where he made 110 appearances and scored 20 goals. In the summer of 2023, he transferred to Antwerp, making a notable impact with 55 games, 12 goals, and seven assists in just over a season. His impressive performance, including seven goals and five assists in 26 appearances in the current season, caught the attention of Serie A, leading to his move to Parma.
In Italy, Ondrejka played 12 matches with Parma at the end of last season, scoring five goals. However, his form dipped last season, resulting in only 17 appearances without any goals or assists. With a contract at Parma through 2029, a loan to Groningen may offer him the opportunity to regain his prior form demonstrated with Antwerp.
