Kosta Nedeljkovic is embracing the challenge of playing right-back, a position held by former Ibrox captain James Tavernier for 11 years, without feeling overwhelmed. The young player seems to thrive in the role.
The 20-year-old joined Rangers on loan from Aston Villa on Wednesday and made an immediate impact by debuting as a substitute the next day in the 1-0 victory against Jablonec in their Conference League play-off first leg.

“Ibrox is one of the most famous and iconic stadiums in the world, so playing here is a huge aspiration. The atmosphere was incredible, and I’m thrilled to have made my debut for this remarkable club. We’re taking it step by step,” said Serbia international Nedeljkovic.
The defender expressed his ambition to help Rangers “fight for the title,” a decision influenced by manager Derek McInnes and his international teammate Vanja Dragojevic, who also joined Rangers this summer.
“After talking with the manager, I decided to join because I believe in the way we play, focusing on attacking and transitions,” Nedeljkovic explained.
“Rangers is a prestigious club where I can develop my game. I want to play for a team that is aggressive in attack every game, which is very important to me.”

He also looks to the club’s former captain for inspiration in his play while maintaining his responsibilities in defense.
“Everyone knows who James Tavernier is; he was the captain here. I don’t feel pressured, as I concentrate on my own game while learning from how he played,” Nedeljkovic noted.
“I really enjoy this style of football, and I aim to be strong defensively while contributing with plenty of assists. I aspire to emulate him in the attacking phase. This style of play is fantastic.”
