Aston Villa are stepping up negotiations with Milan to sign Pervis Estupinan as a replacement for Lucas Digne, who has had his release clause activated by Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s been a challenging day for Aston Villa as they found out that Manchester United would trigger Digne’s €41m clause, with PSG also choosing to activate their own clause for Digne at around €10m.
While Digne’s transfer will not be finalized until after he concludes his participation in the World Cup with France, it alerts the Birmingham club to start looking for a substitute.

It had already been suggested that Aston Villa were interested in Estupinan, which has now been confirmed by transfer analysts Fabrizio Romano and others.

The 28-year-old struggled to find his feet after his €17m, plus €2m in add-ons, transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion last year, making this potential move an opportunity to return to the Premier League.
During his time at the Rossoneri last season, Estupinan recorded one goal, one assist, and received a red card across 22 competitive matches.
New head coach Ruben Amorim is looking for different options for the left flank, suggesting a sale is likely to be manageable.
