Barcelona are currently facing a challenging period, and injuries have significantly contributed to their struggles. Players such as Joan Garcia, Gavi, and Raphinha are already out, and another may soon join them on the sidelines.
During the latter part of Wednesday’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Club Brugge, defender Eric Garcia was substituted due to a bloody nose. Initial concerns suggested a possible fracture, which has now been confirmed by Barcelona, as detailed in their medical report released on Thursday afternoon.
“First-team player Eric Garcia has sustained a nasal fracture. He will be fitted with a protective mask, and his recovery will dictate his participation in the upcoming match against Celta,” the report stated.

Eric’s Potential Involvement This Weekend
This injury casts doubt on Eric’s availability for Sunday’s match against Celta Vigo, though there remains a possibility he could be part of the starting line-up, especially considering he has featured in all of Barcelona’s last five matches across competitions. However, Hansi Flick may choose to err on the side of caution, leading to Pau Cubarsi potentially returning to the lineup after being on the bench for the last two encounters.
Eric has emerged as one of Barcelona’s standout performers this season and is widely regarded as their top defender. His absence would be a significant setback, particularly against a dangerous Celta side equipped with talent like Bryan Zaragoza, Ferran Jutgla, Iago Aspas, and Borja Iglesias.
Within the next 48 hours, it will be determined whether Eric can be included in the matchday squad against Celta. Barcelona will certainly hope for his availability, but it might be prudent to avoid taking any risks with his health.
