Bayern Munich Clinches…

Bayern Munich secured their 35th Bundesliga title with a 4-2 victory against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday afternoon, allowing the German giants to triumph in front of their home fans. With this win, Bayern has clinched the 2025/26 Bundesliga crown and has now finished atop the league in 13 out of the last 14 seasons.

The Allianz Arena crowd was momentarily silenced when Stuttgart’s Chris Führich scored the first goal in the 21st minute. However, Bayern swiftly equalized and then struck three times within a six-minute span before halftime.

Goals from Raphaël Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson, and Alphonso Davies between the 31st and 37th minutes handed Bayern a commanding 3-1 lead at halftime. With the title effectively secured, the atmosphere within the stadium, especially in the iconic SüdKurve, turned celebratory.

Harry Kane, who did not start the match, came on in the second half and scored Bayern’s fourth goal in the 52nd minute. As full-time approached, the stands erupted into the joyous refrain of the famous German football anthem “Oh wie ist es schön.”

A late goal from Chema Andres provided a small consolation for Stuttgart, but it did little to dampen the jubilant mood.

Bayern Munich’s Title Victory Was Never in Doubt

Vincent Kompany’s FCB mathematically secured their title on matchday 30, but the race was considered effectively over after Bayern’s victory over their closest rivals, Borussia Dortmund, on matchday 24 in late February. Many journalists speculated that Bayern’s historic undefeated streak at the start of the season made it clear they were unlikely to lose the title.

Bayern kicked off the year with 16 consecutive wins before drawing against Union Berlin on matchday 10. Their 18-match unbeaten run was only halted when Arsenal defeated Bayern in late November. Their only Bundesliga loss this year came from a surprising defeat by Augsburg at home during matchday 19 in late January.

As it stands, this remains Bayern’s only Bundesliga loss of the season. Just recently, this historic incarnation of Bayern broke the all-time record for goals scored in a single season. With four matches left to play, it is expectantly anticipated that Kompany’s side will continue to extend this record.

Bayern’s Quest for the Treble Continues

With their participation still alive in both the DFB Pokal and the UEFA Champions League, Kompany’s FCB has more history to pursue. They also claimed the Franz Beckenbauer DFL Supercup earlier this season by defeating Stuttgart before the league campaign officially commenced.

Bayern’s dominance in the league is highlighted by the fact that they last lifted the domestic cup when Hansi Flick’s team triumphed over Leverkusen at the end of the 2019/20 season, the same year they also claimed the UEFA Champions League title.
