Heartfelt Reflections on…

Simon Francis expressed that Bournemouth will “always have a very special place” in his heart, following the announcement of his departure from the position of Technical Director at the end of the season.

Francis, who dedicated nine years to the Cherries and captained them to the Premier League, took on the Technical Director role in the summer of 2024 after initially returning to the club in 2021 as an assistant to Richard Hughes.

“Bournemouth has been my home for so many years, and it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye,” Francis stated in his announcement. “I have been proud to represent this club both on and off the field, and I am thankful to everyone I’ve worked with during this time. AFC Bournemouth will always be in my heart, and I’m excited to see how the club continues to succeed in the future.”

Bournemouth chairman Bill Foley remarked, “Simon’s impact on AFC Bournemouth over the last 15 years has been remarkable. From captaining the club during its historic ascent to the Premier League to his contributions as technical director, he has truly embodied the values and spirit of this football club.”

In addition, Tiago Pinto, President of Football Operations, stated, “Simon has been an integral part of our football operations, offering professionalism, insight, and a profound understanding of the club’s identity. His influence will leave a lasting mark, and we are grateful for his dedication and commitment.”
