I Expected Him to Shine…

Stoke City is reportedly interested in signing Ipswich Town striker George Hirst, and fans of the Tractor Boys believe this could be a significant acquisition for the Championship club.

The Scotland international had a productive season, scoring 11 goals in 42 appearances during Ipswich’s promotion journey last year. However, his previous Premier League season was less fruitful, as he managed only three goals in 26 matches, hindered by knee issues.

“No offense to Stoke, but I was expecting him to show up at one of the parachute teams,” Richard Woodward from the Blue Monday podcast remarked during a conversation with BBC Radio Stoke.

“I believed he still had a role at Ipswich, but things have changed a bit with Kieran McKenna moving on.”

“For him, confidence is crucial. He struggled to get consistent minutes, but when he was fit and in the team—despite having some injuries—I think he performed admirably.”
