Curtis Jones is anticipated to arrive in Italy by week’s end to finalize his transfer from Liverpool to Inter. The question remains: how will the English midfielder fit into a crowded midfield lineup already teeming with talent?

Curtis Jones’ Role at Inter

Jones, 25, is set to head to Milan on Friday to wrap up the final details of his transfer, after Inter secured a deal worth €35 million including bonuses on Wednesday.

Jones will mark Inter’s fifth summer signing, joining recent arrivals that include Aleksandar Stankovic, Djed Spence, John Stones, and Ivan Provedel.

At Inter, Jones will find himself among a wealth of midfield options, including Italy’s Nicolo Barella, Turkey’s Hakan Calhanoglu, experienced player Henrikh Mkhitaryan, breakout star Petar Sucic, reliable midfielder Piotr Zielinski, versatile player Andy Diouf, and Stankovic.

This leaves head coach Chivu with eight potential starting midfielders for his 3-5-2 formation.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Jones is expected to be integrated into Inter’s preferred midfield trio, likely positioned on the left with Barella occupying the right and Calhanoglu serving as the deep-lying playmaker.

While he’s skilled enough to step in for Barella on the right side of the midfield, Jones has also previously played at right-back for Liverpool, leading to suggestions that he could serve as an emergency right wing-back for Inter if needed.
