Livi Relegation Has Been…

Ryan McGowan, a defender for Livingston, expressed that Kilmarnock’s defeat to Dundee United over the weekend was “bitterly disappointing,” confirming their relegation from the Scottish Premiership.

Marvin Bartley’s team is currently 10 points adrift at the bottom of the table, with only three matches left in the season.

Livingston had momentarily reignited their slim hopes of survival by securing a 2-0 victory against St Mirren, ending a 33-game winless streak.

However, McGowan noted that previous performances made their relegation seem inevitable.

“The situation we found ourselves in has been developing for some time,” McGowan stated on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast.

“Watching the game and seeing Killie score early is a real kick in the gut, as you always hope for that fleeting feeling that a win could postpone the inevitable.”

“It’s been an extremely disappointing season, marked by countless moments that have felt like setbacks, including conceding late goals and facing crucial decisions that have impacted our games, particularly against teams in the relegation battle with us.”

“That being said, we cannot use that as an excuse. We haven’t performed at the level we aspire to as players, and that ultimately reflects on us.”

“Still, it’s incredibly disheartening to face relegation, and now we must pick ourselves up and prepare for the next season.”
