Olympique de Marseille faces a necessary player sell-off this summer, having confirmed their absence from next season’s UEFA Champions League. Mason Greenwood (24) stands out as the club’s most lucrative asset, and OM hopes to secure a substantial transfer fee, according to a report by L’Équipe.
Reports suggest that Greenwood has become increasingly disinterested at OM. However, he expressed a desire to stay at the club beyond the summer during the UNFP awards on Monday. Nevertheless, OM is keen to cash in on the English forward.
Market analysts estimate Greenwood’s value at around €40-50 million, particularly given the recent indications of his disengagement and the strained relationship with the club.
Nonetheless, Marseille is targeting a transfer fee in the range of €70-80 million. L’Équipe indicates that several major clubs from Italy, Spain, Germany, and Turkey have inquired about him. A return to the Premier League seems unlikely, and Greenwood is not interested in a move to the Saudi Pro League. Manchester United still holds 40% of Greenwood’s rights, which means they would receive a significant portion of any future transfer earnings.
