Luka Modric believes that AC Milan would be contending closely with Inter if they had performed better in crucial matches, following their 1-0 win over Inter in Serie A on Sunday night.
Modric Comments on Milan’s 1-0 Victory Over Inter
The former Ballon d’Or winner played a significant role in Milan’s victory, which has now cut Inter’s lead at the top of the Serie A table to seven points, with ten matches still remaining this season.
In the aftermath of the match, the key question for Milan revolves around whether they can realistically challenge Inter for the title, given the 10-point gap.
“It’s hard to say,” Modric commented in an interview with CBS Sports after the final whistle. “People always say that titles are won in the small games, particularly in league play.”
“We haven’t performed well in those matches and have dropped too many points. If we had secured even half of those points, we would be right there with Inter. But that’s part of football.
“We need to improve and find ways to win these tight games where teams tend to sit deep. We must aim to play faster and discover better solutions to secure victories in such encounters.”
