Arsenal will launch their title defense in the Premier League this Friday at home against newly-promoted Coventry City. The Premier League has released the list of officials for the opening match at Emirates Stadium.
One highlight is the appointment of Jarred Gillett as the VAR official for yet another Arsenal game. Does he officiate for any other teams?
Tom Bramall will be the referee for the match, supported by Gary Beswick and Mat Wilkes.
Bramall has officiated only two games for Arsenal so far: a 1-0 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace in October 2025 and a 2-1 FA Cup win over Mansfield Town in March 2026.
Adam Herczeg will serve as the fourth official.
As VAR, Gillett will be monitoring the match from Stockley Park, with Neil Davies acting as assistant VAR.
Arsenal heads into the match with great confidence following their impressive 3-0 victory in the Community Shield against Manchester City. Mikel Arteta aims to translate that strong performance into three points as their title defense gets underway.
In other news, it’s worth noting that Anthony Taylor has retired from refereeing and is now the Head of Refereeing in Turkey.
