The Scottish FA has abolished the external panel that evaluated major refereeing calls in the Scottish Premiership.
From 2024, the volunteer three-person Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel—featuring former players and a club representative—issued weekly rulings aimed at boosting openness.
In February last year, Dundee United pulled their representative, questioning the panel’s purpose, effectiveness, and overall impact on the game in Scotland. It’s understood other clubs also stepped back this season.
Separately, head of refereeing Willie Collum will continue his monthly VAR Review Show on the Scottish FA’s YouTube channel, offering video breakdowns of key decisions and whether they were correct. He will also keep meeting with captains and managers, a forum viewed as a more productive way to discuss incidents.
At times last season, the KMI panel’s conclusions clashed with Collum’s retrospective assessments.
