Chris Davies, the manager of Birmingham City, is confident that no team will dominate possession more than Swansea City at the Swansea.com Stadium this season.
Last weekend, Birmingham secured a 1-0 victory in the EFL Cup against Swansea, despite only having 38.3% possession.
Davies, who served as Swansea’s assistant when the team was promoted to the Premier League in 2011, believes that Vitor Matos’ side will maintain control of the ball on their home ground throughout the 2026-27 season.
“No Championship team is going to come to Swansea and have more possession than them this season – I am confident in saying that,” Davies remarked.
“Swansea looks like a classic Swansea City team to me – they employ a 4-3-3 formation with plenty of movement, making them tough to contain. They have some dangerous wingers who pose a threat.”
“I take a lot from our win because they are difficult to play against. We tried to disrupt their rhythm and make it a chaotic game.”

August Priske netted the only goal that allowed Birmingham to advance to the EFL Cup second round, while Swansea failed to capitalize on their chances.
Birmingham ended last season in 10th place in the Championship, just ahead of Swansea who finished 11th on goal difference.
Davies believes both clubs are gearing up for a challenging Championship season that kicks off this weekend.
“With West Ham dropping down, I’m sure Wolves will be strong, and Burnley will also be competitive. This will certainly elevate the overall level of the division,” he stated.
“I believe some of the teams coming up will also be competitive, and you can see that teams are investing in players at a higher rate than last year, which has surprisingly increased.
“The league will be challenging due to the physical demands and the number of games to be played.”
