According to Italian media, Jamie Vardy is anticipated to make his starting debut in Serie A this coming Monday, as Cremonese faces Udinese.
Vardy Set to Start in Cremonese vs. Udinese Clash
The match will take place at Stadio Zini, with kickoff scheduled for 20:45 CET (19:45 BST).
Reports from Italian outlets, including Gazzetta and Sport Mediaset, indicate that Cremonese’s coach Davide Nicola is seriously considering giving the Leicester City icon his first start, following two appearances as a substitute.
So far this season, Cremonese has accumulated nine points from six matches, but has struggled in recent games, scoring only two goals in their last four outings, including a 0-0 draw against Verona and Parma, a 1-1 draw versus Como, and a 4-1 loss to Inter.
Vardy signed with Cremonese on a free transfer on deadline day after leaving Leicester City, where he scored 145 goals in 342 Premier League games.
How Vardy Joined Cremonese
In a recent statement, Cremonese director Simone Giacchetta discussed Vardy’s acquisition, saying, “We aimed to find players who would help us achieve survival, and a striker plays a vital role in that, needing someone who can score consistently.” He added, “The market presents countless options, but Vardy captivated us with his skills, his Premier League accomplishments, and his inspiring journey from factory worker at 25.”
