Wigan Athletic’s captain, Jason Kerr, is set to depart from the League One club after a nearly five-year tenure with the Latics.
The 29-year-old defender joined Wigan in the summer of 2021, where he played a pivotal role in securing the League One title during his inaugural season.
During his time with the club, Kerr amassed a total of 150 appearances across all competitions, including 37 in the ongoing 2025-26 season.
Kerr is leaving alongside several teammates, including Will Aimson, Toby Savin, Luke Robinson, Steven Sessegnon, Tyrese Francois, Matthew Corran, and Jack Hunt.
Additionally, Joseph Hungbo, Baba Adeeko, Jonny Smith, Ronan Darcy, and Maleace Asamoah have been made available for transfer.
Darcy, who joined Wigan from Crawley in January 2025, recently returned to his previous club on loan earlier this year. Meanwhile, Sessegnon, who was transfer-listed last season, remained with the Latics, contributing 15 appearances this season, with his last game played in February.

Aimson, a former player for Plymouth and Bolton, exits the club after making 98 appearances since his arrival in the summer of 2024, while Hunt concludes his short-term contract signed in February.
