Piotr Zielinski echoed the sentiments of Inter President Beppe Marotta, emphasizing that the priority this season should be to ‘perform better in Europe’ following their success in Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
The Nerazzurri achieved a remarkable double last season, clinching the Scudetto and Coppa Italia during Cristian Chivu’s first year as head coach.
Despite their domestic achievements, they encountered setbacks in the Champions League, facing an early exit against Bodo/Glimt.

“We aim high; we want to replicate our successes in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, while adding a significant achievement in the Champions League,” Zielinski remarked during a press conference at Inter’s pre-season camp in Germany.

“We possess a fantastic team and must improve our European performance compared to last season. We believe we can compete on multiple fronts, and we will strive for that. Last year, our Champions League performance fell short of our standards, and we are determined to enhance that this time around.”

President Marotta expressed similar sentiments in his opening press conference for the summer. How has coach Chivu been motivating the team?

“He has encouraged us to seek new motivation, ambition, and drive for this season, while leaving the past behind. We need to concentrate on future possibilities and prepare for the upcoming campaign,” Zielinski stated.
Luciano Spalletti suggested that Juventus may not be in the Scudetto race this year. So, who does Zielinski perceive as Inter’s main competitors?
“I believe several robust teams will contend with us for the title, but since we’re still early in the season and with the transfer market ongoing, it’s premature to predict the outcomes. I anticipate three or four strong competitors,” Zielinski responded.
“I won’t hide my aspirations; we all understand what it means to win the Serie A title. We will do our utmost to claim the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, and also perform well in the Champions League,” he concluded.
