Roisin Molloy then equalized for the lively contest in North Belfast before Teegan Lynch, capitalizing on a pass from Caitlin McGuinness, regained the lead for the home team.

However, Athlone quickly responded, with Noelle Murray finding the net to level the match once again.

McGuinness ultimately secured the vital three points for Group C in the 69th minute, as she drove a long ball into the bottom left corner.

In a separate match, defending Premiership champions Glentoran fell 1-0 to Waterford, thanks to a goal by Danielle Burke in the 16th minute.

Despite the loss, the Glens remain second in Group D, ahead of Waterford on goal difference.

In Group B, Lisburn Rangers are still seeking their first points in the competition, having suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Galway United.
