According to a recent transfer update from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are intending to make a move for Amario Cozier-Duberry and have set aside a bid for the young talent at Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls previously declined an offer of about £5 million from Anderlecht, as Cozier-Duberry is also attracting interest from Hull City, West Ham United, Paris FC, and Red Bull Salzburg.
The 21-year-old England youth international came up through the ranks of Chettle Court Rangers and Arsenal’s academy before making a Bosman transfer to Brighton in the summer of 2024. However, he was quickly loaned to Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship and later spent a season at Bolton Wanderers in the third division.
During his time with the Trotters, Cozier-Duberry showcased his talent by netting 10 goals and providing 13 assists in 41 appearances across competitions [stats via Transfermarket]. His impressive performances on the right wing helped them secure promotion through the play-offs, and now the Light Blues are eager to add him to their squad following the unsuccessful tenures of Andreas Skov Olsen and Oliver Antman last season.

Meanwhile, Rangers are undergoing a squad overhaul under the leadership of Derek McInnes, who has taken over from Danny Rohl. McInnes has had success with Hearts but faces a greater challenge at Ibrox due to the high expectations associated with reclaiming the Premiership title.

Rangers’ Need for a Stronger Attack
Rangers have already secured six new signings, including Ross McCrorie and Ben Godfrey to enhance their defensive line. Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur has joined, while midfielders Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have also come on board. Additionally, they are reportedly closing in on Partizan’s Vanja Dragojevic. However, Lawrence Shankland remains their only addition in a forward position.
With Skov Olsen returning to Wolfsburg after an unproductive loan spell, Rangers are left with Antman, Thelo Aasgaard, and Danilo as their right-wing options. Antman struggled with form and fitness, while Danilo is likely to be departing soon. Aasgaard does not naturally occupy a wide role, highlighting the need for Cozier-Duberry.
Even though Brighton hopes he will extend his contract, Cozier-Duberry may be tempted by the promise of more playing time at Rangers. Joining them would provide him with vital first-team experience and the chance to compete in Europe. However, McInnes will face stiff competition, as multiple clubs are monitoring the player’s situation.
