FC Barcelona strengthened their reserve and youth teams during the January transfer window, notably acquiring teenage striker Hamza Abdelkarim.
After lengthy negotiations, the 18-year-old forward was signed on loan from Al Ahly in Egypt. Although it took him a while to adjust, Hamza has made significant contributions to the club’s Juvenil A team.

Barcelona poised to activate buy clause
Journalist Sayed Nabawy (via SPORT) reports that Hamza has impressed enough to persuade Barcelona’s sporting department to trigger the purchase option included in his loan agreement.
The transfer fee is anticipated to be around €1.5 million, potentially rising to €5 million with add-ons, while Al Ahly will reserve a 15% sell-on clause for the young player.
Hamza recently made headlines by playing a pivotal role in Barcelona Juvenil A’s impressive 9-0 victory over UD Montecarlo, securing the league title.
The Egyptian striker scored a hat trick in just over 15 minutes, showcasing his talent as the standout performer in the crucial match.

Hamza’s thoughts after the match
In an interview with the club’s media team following the match, Hamza expressed his desire to continue at Barcelona beyond June 30, the expiry date of his current contract.
“I’m incredibly pleased with what we’ve achieved, but at the same time, I’m determined to achieve even more. It’s a wonderful feeling to be part of this team. I’m committed to giving my all,” said the 18-year-old.
Reflecting on his adaptation to the club, he mentioned that Barça focused on his gradual integration into the Juvenil A squad instead of placing him immediately into Barça Atletic. He noted:
“It’s an incredible feeling. The whole team has put in tremendous effort throughout the season. I joined halfway through, but I was warmly welcomed from the start.
“Over time, I’ve learned the style of play and adapted more effectively, especially since football here is different. I’m very happy, but I aspire to win even more titles.”
